Levociraptor kits are designed to be fitted by the rider. The motor does not need to be removed for any current generation. Gen 2 and Gen 3 plug into the bike's existing connectors; Gen 4 adds one extra connection to the motor's speed-sensor port.

Not sure which kit you need yet? Start with the compatibility guide — installing the wrong generation won't work, whatever the model year.

Levociraptor Gen 4 installation

For Turbo Levo G4, Turbo Levo R4 and Turbo Vado 3 (Specialized / Brose 3.1 motor).

Gen 4 is different from earlier kits in one important way: as well as the main connection, it also connects to the speed-sensor port on the motor. That connection uses a proprietary Specialized-compatible connector which the manufacturer custom-moulds for reliability and waterproofing.

  1. Remove the battery. This is required so the speed-sensor cable can be routed up through the frame.
  2. Route the speed-sensor cable through the frame to the motor.
  3. Connect the Levociraptor using the dedicated Gen 4 connector and the speed-sensor cable.
  4. Refit the battery and check the bike powers up normally.
  5. Pair with the free Levociraptor app over Bluetooth to set your speed limit and wheel diameter, and to check for firmware updates.

The motor does not need to be removed — only basic tools and skills are needed.

Manufacturer installation & showcase video

Manufacturer manuals for each generation are published on the Levociraptor installation page.

Levociraptor Gen 3 installation

For Turbo Levo 2019–2024, Turbo Levo SL, Turbo Levo SL 2023, Turbo Kenevo 2020–2022, Turbo Kenevo SL, Turbo Vado SL, Turbo Creo SL, Turbo Creo SL 2 and Turbo Tero SL.

The manufacturer describes Gen 3 installation in three steps:

  1. Remove one screw from the display / TCU area.
  2. Connect two cables — the Levociraptor plugs inline with the bike's existing connectors.
  3. Replace the screw.

Then pair with the free Levociraptor app to set your speed limit and wheel diameter.

Turbo Creo SL 2 owners: the manufacturer asks you to update the Levociraptor to the latest Levociraptor software after installation. This is the Levociraptor's own software, updated through the free Levociraptor app — not your bike's motor firmware.

Levociraptor Gen 2 installation

For Turbo Levo 2019–2024, Turbo Levo SL, Turbo Kenevo 2020–2022, Turbo Kenevo SL, Turbo Vado SL and Turbo Creo SL.

Gen 2 plugs into the bike's existing connectors and the manufacturer describes it as very quick to fit and remove. As with the other generations, the motor stays in the bike.

After installation

  • Pair the kit with the free Levociraptor app to set your speed limit and wheel diameter, and to install any available firmware update. See our apps guide.
  • On Gen 4 you can switch the kit on and off in real time — no need to power the bike off, and the bike doesn't need to be stationary.
  • If anything doesn't behave as expected, contact us before riding: info@crobikes.com or 714-576-7120.

A word on bike firmware

The manufacturer warns that Specialized bicycle and motor firmware updates can block or disable tuning compatibility. That is separate from the Levociraptor's own firmware. Don't update your bike's motor firmware expecting it to fix or improve a Levociraptor, and get in touch if you're unsure.
