All three current Levociraptor generations adjust your Specialized e-bike's factory speed restriction over Bluetooth. What separates them is which motor they fit and how much they integrate with your bike's display.

Compatibility matters more than the generation number. A higher number is not an upgrade if it doesn't fit your motor. Gen 4 only works on Specialized / Brose 3.1 motors, and a Turbo Levo SL will always need Gen 2 or Gen 3. Check the compatibility guide first.

Which should you buy?

If your bike has a 3.1 motor

Turbo Levo G4 (including S-Works), Turbo Levo R4 and Turbo Vado 3. Levociraptor Gen 4 is your only option — no other generation fits this motor.

If your bike has an SL 1.2 motor or is a Turbo Tero SL

Turbo Levo SL 2023, Turbo Creo SL 2, and the Turbo Tero SL (2.0 motor). Gen 3 is the only compatible choice. Note that SL 1.2 bikes will not show accurate speed on the bike's own display with Gen 3; the BLEvo app can be used for correct speed data.

If your bike has a 2.1, 2.2 or SL 1.1 motor

Both Gen 2 and Gen 3 fit, so this is a genuine choice:

  • Gen 3 is the newer compatible generation. It adds MasterMind TCU integration, correct speed and distance on the display, a freely selectable maximum speed and a professional waterproof enclosure.
  • Gen 2 is also compatible with these motors and remains available as a lower-priced previous-generation option.

A note on Gen 1

The manufacturer still lists Levociraptor Gen 1 as compatible with 2.1 and 2.2 motors, but it is no longer produced, so we don't sell or recommend it. Riders with those motors should choose Gen 2 or Gen 3.

Levociraptor software vs Specialized firmware

These are two different things and it matters. Levociraptor firmware is the software on the Levociraptor itself, which you update from your phone with the free Levociraptor app. Specialized firmware is your bike's own motor and display software. The manufacturer warns that bicycle and motor firmware updates can block or disable tuning compatibility, so don't update your bike's motor firmware expecting it to help the Levociraptor.
