Turbo Tero SL
Important — SL 1.2 motors and the bike display. The manufacturer states that e-bikes with an SL 1.2 motor will not show accurate speed readings on the bike’s own display when using Gen 3. The BLEvo app can be used for correct speed data. BLEvo is a separate, paid app.
Gen 2, Gen 3 and Gen 4 explained
Compatibility matters more than the generation number. A higher generation is not an upgrade if it does not fit your motor — Gen 4 only works with 3.1 motor bikes, and a Turbo Levo SL will always need Gen 2 or Gen 3.
Levociraptor Gen 2
Bluetooth speed selection through the free Levociraptor app, barometer and thermometer logging, crash detection and BLEvo Smart Power support (BLEvo features require the paid BLEvo app), and smartphone firmware updates. Still compatible with 2.1, 2.2 and SL 1.1 motors, and available as a lower-priced previous-generation option.
Levociraptor Gen 3
Everything Gen 2 offers, plus MasterMind TCU integration, correct speed and distance shown on the bike display or external devices such as Garmin, a freely selectable maximum speed rather than fixed presets, and a professional waterproof enclosure. Gen 3 is the only current kit for SL 1.2 and for the Turbo Tero SL.
Levociraptor Gen 4
Built specifically for the Specialized / Brose 3.1 motor platform with MasterMind T3. Adds a dedicated connector, a custom-moulded speed-sensor cable, real-time activation and deactivation with no power cycle, configurable activation triggers such as a short press of the walk button, and a smaller waterproof enclosure.
Levociraptor software is not your bike’s firmware. You update the Levociraptor itself from your phone using the free Levociraptor app. That is separate from Specialized motor firmware. The manufacturer warns that bicycle and motor firmware updates can block or disable tuning compatibility, so do not update your bike’s motor firmware expecting it to help the Levociraptor.
Frequently asked questions
Which Levociraptor do I need?
The right kit depends on your bike’s motor, not its model year alone. Specialized / Brose 3.1 motors use Gen 4. Specialized 2.2 and 2.1 motors use Gen 2 or Gen 3. SL 1.1 motors use Gen 2 or Gen 3. SL 1.2 motors use Gen 3. The Turbo Tero SL (2.0 motor) uses Gen 3. Use the finder above, or send us your model, year, motor and display and we will confirm it.
Which Levociraptor works with the Turbo Levo G4?
The Turbo Levo G4, including S-Works builds, uses the Specialized / Brose 3.1 motor and requires the Levociraptor Gen 4.
Does Levociraptor work with the Specialized 3.1 motor?
Yes. The manufacturer lists the Turbo Levo G4, Turbo Levo R4 and Turbo Vado 3 with the 3.1 motor, and all three use the Levociraptor Gen 4.
Does Levociraptor work with the Specialized 2.2 motor?
Yes. Turbo Levo 2022, 2023 and 2024 models use the 2.2 motor and work with Levociraptor Gen 2 or Gen 3. Gen 1 is also listed by the manufacturer but is no longer produced.
Does Levociraptor work with the Specialized 2.1 motor?
Yes. Turbo Levo 2019–2021 and Turbo Kenevo 2020–2022 use the 2.1 motor and work with Levociraptor Gen 2 or Gen 3.
Which Levociraptor works with an SL 1.2 motor?
Gen 3. The manufacturer lists the Turbo Levo SL 2023 and the Turbo Creo SL 2 with the SL 1.2 motor as Gen 3 only. Gen 2 is not compatible with SL 1.2.
Which Levociraptor works with an SL 1.1 motor?
Gen 2 or Gen 3. This covers the Turbo Levo SL, Turbo Kenevo SL, Turbo Vado SL and Turbo Creo SL.
Does Gen 3 show the correct speed on an SL 1.2 motor?
No. The manufacturer states that e-bikes with an SL 1.2 motor will not show accurate speed readings on the bike’s own display when using Gen 3. The BLEvo app can be used for correct speed data.
What is the difference between Gen 2, Gen 3 and Gen 4?
Gen 2 offers Bluetooth speed selection, barometer and thermometer logging, crash detection and firmware updates. Gen 3 adds MasterMind TCU integration, correct speed and distance on the display, a freely selectable maximum speed and a professional waterproof box. Gen 4 is built for the 3.1 motor platform and adds a dedicated connector, a speed-sensor connection, real-time activation and deactivation, activation triggers and a smaller waterproof box. Compatibility matters more than the generation number — buy the one that fits your motor.
Does Levociraptor work with the MasterMind TCU?
Gen 3 and Gen 4 integrate with the MasterMind TCU and can show correct speed, distance and ride statistics. The one exception the manufacturer lists is SL 1.2 bikes using Gen 3, which do not show accurate speed on the bike display.
Could a Specialized firmware update affect my Levociraptor?
The manufacturer warns that bicycle and motor firmware updates can block or disable tuning compatibility. This is separate from the Levociraptor’s own software, which you update through the free Levociraptor app. Do not update your bike’s motor firmware expecting it to help the Levociraptor.
